What does automation and digital mean for my production plant?

You’ve probably heard these terms many times, but you might not be clear on what they actually mean. And you’re not the only one—though they’re often tossed around interchangeably, they refer to different (though related) concepts. Engex wants to simplify this and explain the differences.

Digitisation means converting information from an analogue format to a digital format, for example, making a digital version of paper-based inspections and saving them to an online database where real-time reports are generated.

Digitalisation is the process of adopting digital technology like end-to-end food and beverage processing to enhance existing work processes, for instance, creating dashboards that display real-time KPIs on a processing line’s performance.

Digital transformation involves more profound and widespread changes to how a business uses digital technology. It’s about understanding and implementing the true potential of digitalisation to not only improve existing processes, but to transform how you do business. Put simply, we digitise information from analogue to digital, we digitalise processes to make work more efficient, and we digitally transform organisations and their relationship with technology.

Experts in automation and client partnering

Our approach is a blend of precise honed knowledge, human, social and industry 4.0 applications combined with technical prowess that delivers fully integrated automation and controls to many industries and does so with a green focus.

By taking this approach, our clients benefit from the peace of mind and additional security that all of their projects will be skilfully engineered and handled efficiently & safely, which drives accelerated operational performance from their plants.

Remember; whilst your operating production lines may function and possibly even fit with your current schedules for maintenance, there is every chance your other stages of operational processes are not aligned to obtain maximum value from these operations.  Whilst its alarming to contemplate, at Engex our goal is to advise, guide and reassure you that we have taken every aspect of your production into consideration.  We marry your processes with giant data analytics, world class digital technologies and asset to asset/machine to machine connectivity.

In brief, Engex support industrial manufacturers of all disciplines, distribution/logistic centres and data giants to transform their businesses into super-intelligent operations. We also understand the sensitive links between automation, cyber and robotics and we traverse from F&B to automotive capably and with demonstrable success.

Why Engex

Bolstered by our in-depth knowledge and expertise in operational safety systems, Engex provides entire solutions which are closely monitored & controlled to guarantee that any commissioning and tie-ins will seamlessly merge with any planned maintenance or scheduled windows of shutdown.

Engex have the capability to expertly offer industrial automation and electrical projects to all industries, accompanied by numerous hardware and software offerings which can comfortably meet the most challenging of briefs.  We have our own experienced team of UL certified designers which focus on the very highest quality batch or individual control systems.

F&B Automation

Engex believe that the food & beverage industry holds immense opportunities for digitalisation. Although progress has been underway for many years, the pandemic has dramatically accelerated the rate of change. Intelligent solutions have been critical in responding to the rapidly changing environment and most businesses have ramped up their investments accordingly.

Adopting new technology, for example by integrating food and beverage processing automation across your production line can give you a competitive edge, whereas delaying necessary changes leaves you at risk of being left behind. However, digital transformation does not mean impulsively throwing technology at problems and disposing of all of your current assets. On the contrary, a successful digital journey requires a clear vision and purpose, supported by in-depth expertise. The idea of digitalisation might seem daunting, but the nature of the food & beerage industry—accustomed to constant change and the need to adapt—means that processors are ideally situated to take on the challenge and reap its rewards. With a proper understanding of your company’s goals and the technology that can support them, your digital journey can bring enormous benefits.

Automation & Control Panels for Refrigeration and Heating Systems

Engex’s unique, innovative control & monitoring solutions provide impressive capabilities to control complex production processes, optimise efficiency and significantly reduce system downtime.

Automation & Controls Separation

At Engex, we understand that even the best centrifuges will not function optimally, unless they are paired with control systems of comparable quality.  For our entire range of separators and decanters, we offer both standardised and bespoke built solutions for all machine automation with numerous features to meet our clients requirements.

Automation in Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences

The modern pharmaceutical industry can be traced back to local apothecaries that distributed botanical drugs to local communities. The apothecaries expanded to wholesale manufacture in the mid 1800s. During this time, all of the manufacturing processes were manual and it often took several people to manufacture one bottle of medicine.
A recent study by the Association for Packaging and Processing technologies has predicted that robotics will handle 70% of pharmaceutical packaging operations across the civilised world by 2030. An increase in the use of robots is particularly significant in dispensing, sorting, kit assembly and light machine-tending. The advantages include greater speed and accuracy, more flexibility and more reliability.
As the use of automation and robotics in the pharmaceutical industry continues to increase rapidly, it’s important to consider the benefits of the latest technologies for your production operations and Engex are on hand to provide the benefit of their knowledge and expertise to protect your interests, advise on the very best solutions and guarantee that you are working at optimal efficiency, cost effectively and safely.
